Some ear, nose, and throat doctors offer Balloon Sinuplasty in their office, under local anesthesia, so that there is no need to go to an operating room or undergo general anesthesia.
While recovery time varies with each patient, recovery is typically fast. In a study of in-office balloon dilation, most patients returned to work and normal activity within 2 days.
What to Expect
Dr. Turner Wright and his staff are here to ensure your recovery from Balloon Sinuplasty is quick and painless so you can begin to feel its benefits as soon as possible! You won’t have to worry about recovering from general anesthesia since we can perform the procedure under local anesthesia. You may experience some minor bruising, a slight headache, or muscle twitching as the anesthesia wears off.
You will most likely be at home within an hour of the procedure, and you can enjoy a meal the same evening. You can expect to return to normal daily activities the next day, but we advise you to limit strenuous physical activity and avoid blowing your nose for one week following surgery.
During the following week, you may experience some swelling, congestion, and bloody discharge or drainage. These are all completely normal symptoms and can be alleviated by sleeping with your head elevated.
